8 F's Self Care Tips For Wonder Mums by Paola Santiago Llorando

I'm happy to share my 8 F’s tips with all women and especially mothers.


Motherhood is a gift and not a sacrifice and I will continue to embrace my role as a mother, to not suffer but to empower. That is why I always remind myself that to become a better person is to discover the best version of ourselves.


We put ourselves first and therefore gaining the ability to not only support and help ourselves, but also the people around us.


1. FOOD


You are what you eat. Your body should be supported with the right amount of protein, whole carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats. Multivitamins are beneficial as optimal health can’t be achieved by diet alone, this is supported by the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA). Drinking at least eight glasses of water daily is compulsory as it maintains the function of every system in your body, flush bacteria from bladder and keep you hydrated.


2. FITNESS


Your exercise program doesnt have to be repetitive, it can be fun and flexible. Prioritise 15-30 minutes of exercise three to five times a week from a range of physical activity such as park runs with the family, zumba, walk in the neighbourhood and core exercises that can be found on Youtube and can be done at home.


3. FACIALS


There should be time set aside for relaxation and pampering. A simple and effective facial can add glow to your face and give you a positive energy. Make sure to let your skin breathe by avoiding make up especially when it isnt necessary. It is important to know your skin well in order to find the right skin regimen done morning and night. 4. FUN/FRIENDS


Even if you feel that there is not enough time in the world, keep in mind the break you should give to yourself. Have a break from anything even if it means asking for time alone for salon, spa and travel. Make sure to plan out of town trips, a dine out with friends or even just attending conventions as I find this satisfying. Having great friends are like gems.They give support and encouragement. Laughter is the best medicine and anything that makes you smile is good for the heart.



5. FINANCE


Find ways to earn extra income based on your passion and aim for financial freedom. At the end of the day, this will pay off so you are able to travel and provide for your family without financial restrictions. There is a legacy we can leave our children which is our hard work, dedication and perseverance.





6. FAMILY


Having a great support system is good for our well-being so we don’t feel alone and have people we can rely on. My support systems are my loving husband and my helpful children as they all make it seem possible for me to achieve my dreams. During my pregnancies where I’ve had a total of eight major operations on my body along with delivering five caesarians has brought me pain but also happiness. It has made me realise the happiness my five precious daughters Alyssa, Patricia, Alyanna, Samantha, and Amanda brought to my life.


7. FULL SLEEP


No matter how busy the day has been, it is important to get the right amount of sleep which is at least eight hours. It helps with concentration, attention, mood and makes us more active during the day. It can help with productivity and add youthfulness.





8. FAITH


My faith in God is the ultimate stress reliever. No matter what challenges and hardships I will encounter I know that God will always provide, protect and guide. With God anything is possible.


”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.





And Psalm 139: “ I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."


These two scriptures are what helps me strengthen my faith.


To conclude, many people ask countless questions regarding my maintenance of healthy and radiant skin despite conceiving five kids. There is no right answer on how to find this as it depends on your mental state and where you put your energy.


It is all about balancing and practicing care by loving and respecting yourself as well as the people around you. The amount of commitment and determination in taking care of God’s given temple which is our bodies is the first step to feeling and looking young.
